Want to buy a (former) library?

From the Chicago Artists Resource page:

“The City of Chicago Department of Community Development (DCD) is seeking proposals for the purchase and adaptive reuse of a former library building at 2724 W. Cermak Road in the South Lawndale community. The two-story building, constructed in 1951, has been vacant since 2009.  The 3,225-square-foot site represents an excellent commercial or mixed-use development opportunity with 25 feet of frontage along a major Chicago arterial street. It is located in close proximity to other commercial, institutional, mixed-use and residential developments as well as key elements of the regional transportation network.  This site is bounded on the north by a public alley, on the south by West Cermak Road, on the east by a three-story mixed-use structure and on the west by South Fairfield Avenue. The Request for Proposals (RFP) is flexible in terms of proposed uses, however respondents must respect the existing land uses and architecture of the surrounding area. Commercial or mixed-use use proposals are preferred.”
